VAPOR ENCROACHMENT

Vapor Encroachment is the migration of a contaminant plume (Soil and or shallow groundwater) vapors to indoor air. Vapor migration and intrusion into structures on a property can potentially create significant liability and have a material impact on property value. As such, it is a growing concern for property owners, prospective purchasers of property, and environmental professionals conducting due diligence. Using data from a Phase I ESA ( Enviro Probe can determine whether a Vapor Encroachment Condition (VEC) is present. This is considered a Tier I Assessment. A VEC may lead to Tier II and III Assessments that may lead to a remediation system. The following diagram illustrates the Migration of Plume Vapors to Indoor Air.
